Server logs and your IP address

1. 1. What technical logs contain

   Like any online service, Becomy Studio and its hosting provider produce technical logs. Those logs contain connection data, including the IP address, the date and time of the request, the resource requested and the browser used. They exist for the security of the service, for diagnosing incidents and for preventing abuse, in particular on the public demos that are open without an account. They are not used for advertising, and they are not shared with third parties for that purpose. They are kept only for a limited period, the one applied by our hosting provider, at the end of which they are deleted. Error reports generated automatically during a technical incident do not contain the IP address: they are limited to the method and path of the request, together with the technical detail of the error.

2. 2. How this differs from application data

   These logs must be distinguished from the data the application itself stores. For the public assistant and the AI-generated visual mockup, no IP address is stored in plain form: we keep only a non-reversible fingerprint, computed with a secret key, from which the original address cannot be reconstructed. It is used solely to enforce quotas and to detect abuse. Saying that no IP address is retained would therefore be incomplete: the application retains none, while the technical logs contain them for the limited period stated above.
